10.02.2021. 12:05

On 12 February 2021, Gabrielius Landsbergis, the Foreign Minister of Lithuania, will arrive in Latvia for a working visit. He will be discussing bilateral and regional cooperation as well as current issues in the field of international relations and security policy in a meeting with Edgars Rinkēvičs, Latvia’s Foreign Minister.

2021 marks the centenary of Latvia’s de jure recognition of the Republic of Lithuania. On 10 February 1921, the Latvian government took the decision to recognise the independence of the Republic of Lithuania. During the visit, the Foreign Ministers will also attend an exhibition of historical documents relating to the establishment of diplomatic relations between Latvia and Lithuania, Lithuania’s de jure recognition, and the first years of bilateral relations between the two countries.

Gabrielius Landsbergis has been Foreign Minister of Lithuania since 11 December 2020 and this will be his first visit to Latvia as Foreign Minister.
