Credentials received by the Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Latvia to the EU, Lelde Līce-Līcīte

On 17 August 2021, in Riga Castle, the President of Latvia, Egils Levits, presented a Letter of Credence to the next Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Latvia to the European Union, Lelde Līce-Līcīte.

Lelde Līce-Līcīte began her career with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1992 and has worked in various positions involving bilateral relations and economic cooperation between the Baltic States, and Latvia’s accession to the European Union. 

She has held the post of the European Union Coordination Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and served as Deputy Head of Mission at the Permanent Representation of Latvia to the European Union. In 2011, Lelde Līce-Līcīte was posted as Ambassador of Latvia to the Kingdom of Belgium and on 2012, also as non-resident Ambassador to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Since 2016, Lelde Līce-Līcīte has been Foreign Policy and EU Affairs Adviser to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Latvia.

Lelde Līce-Līcīte has obtained the qualifications of an engineer-economist at the Riga Technical University and completed a post-graduate course at the Faculty of Economics of the Riga Technical University. The Ambassador is fluent in English, French and Russian.

Ambassador Līce-Līcīte is succeeding Sanita Pavļuta-Deslandes, who has been representing Latvia’s interests in the European Union since 2015.
