The application for a new passport and/or eID card should be submitted in person at the Embassy of Latvia in Ottawa only. Prior registration in the electronic registration system is required.
Visitors without registered appointment will not be accepted!
Before the visit
Please make sure that, in accordance with the Law on the Register of Natural Persons, you have informed Latvian authorities about the changes in personal data that occurred abroad: address of residence, family status, incl. change of surname in case of marriage, birth of children, acquisition of citizenship of another country, etc.
Information should be updated by sending the data to the responsible institution in Latvia by mail or electronically, signed with a secure electronic signature. The service is free of charge.
NB! The Embassy does not provide services without updated information about the address of residence!
During the visit at the Embassy it is possible to update information about the address of residence only. Starting from 01.01.2025. a consular fee 50 EUR per person will be applicable.
Required documents
- Latvian document(-s) – passport and eID card (if any);
- Canadian document(-s) – Canadian passport, residence permit, work or study permit;
- For children up to 5 years - photo 35x45 mm, on a white background. The photo must not be older than 3 months;
- In case of theft of Latvian documents – police report on the fact of theft (if any);
- For the first-time application of documents – OCMA's (PMLP) decision on granting Latvian citizenship and personal code and birth certificate.

NB! For applications of passport and eID card during Embassy’s visits with the mobile passport station outside Ottawa an additional fee will apply.
