Ambassador Reinis Trokša submits credentials to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan

On 27 December 2021, in an official ceremony in Tashkent, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to the Republic of Uzbekistan, Reinis Trokša, submitted his credentials to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev welcomed Latvia’s support for Uzbekistan in the framework of the European Union and other international organisations, and he also underlined successful bilateral cooperation and prospects for the promotion of trade through implementation of joint projects in the areas of transport, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, tourism and information technology. The President invited Latvian businesses to get acquainted with reforms taking place in Uzbekistan and explore new opportunities for cooperation.    

Ambassador Trokša expressed satisfaction with the positive dynamic of bilateral relations, a regular political dialogue and successful cooperation in a number of sectors. He agreed that reforms implemented in Uzbekistan were strengthening the existing economic cooperation and opening new prospects for businesses from both countries, especially in information technologies, green technologies and other promising sectors. The Ambassador noted that Latvia was prepared to provide further practical support for Uzbekistan in its pursuit of reform.

2022 will see 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Latvia and Uzbekistan.

Ambassador Reinis Trokša took up his post on 10 September 2021, succeeding Ambassador Mihails Popkovs, who had been representing Latvia’s interests in Uzbekistan since 2017.
