On 9 June, Egypt’s Tourism Office and the Association of Latvian Travel Agents and Tour Operators (ALTA) announced that Egypt has become the partner country for the Baltics’ major travel trade fair Balttour 2015. The tourism industry in Egypt is currently on the rise and offers varied recreational opportunities.

“It is with great pleasure that I can announce that Egypt will be an official partner country for the Baltics’ major travel fair Balttour 2015! Latvian and Baltic markets are very important for us; we have developed a great collaboration with tour operators here. Latvian tourists have long traditions visiting Egypt, and the number of tourists visiting Egypt almost hit 15 thousand people last year,” declared the Director of the Egypt’s Tourism Office in Nordic and Baltic Countries Dr. Mohamed Atta Elsherbeiny.

The President of ALTA Kitija Gitendorfa acknowledged that “while going through domestic turbulence in the past few years, Egypt has still managed to provide security for travellers and diversity and quality of services at very competitive prices. That has helped to keep up European travellers’ interest in visiting Egypt sufficiently high. The Association of Latvian Travel Agents and Tour Operators welcomes Egypt’s intention to become the official partner country for Balttour 2015 and hopes that this will contribute to the recovery and future growth of tourism flows. Based on positive experience so far, enthusiasm on both sides will now be lent new impetus for further development of cooperation”.

Becoming a partner country for Balttour 2015 is one of Egypt’s most important activities in northern Europe.  Egypt wants to build a continuous and open dialogue with travellers and tour operators by both informing them about the opportunities to travel and recreate in Egypt as well as raising awareness of political situation and safe travelling. Equally topical are sustainable tourism issues entailing enhanced protection of both cultural heritage and natural resources, and the development of health and spa tourism.

The 22nd International Travel Trade Fair Balttour 2015 will take place between 6 and 8 February at Ķīpsala International Exhibition Centre and present the offer of about 800 tourism companies from 40 countries. Balttour is organised by the Association of Latvian Travel Agents and Tour Operators (ALTA) and run by the International Exhibition Company BT 1. Read more about the fair at www.balttour.lv
