Renunciation of non-citizen status/Latvian citizenship

According to the “Law on the Status of those Former USSR Citizens who do not have Citizenship of Latvia or that of any Other State”, a non-citizen of Latvia who has obtained citizenship of any other country has the obligation to renounce the status of the non-citizen within 30 days from obtaining the other citizenship

Documents must be submitted to the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs in Latvia by mail (address: Ciekurkalna 1. linija 1, k-3, Riga, LV-1026, Latvia).

The following documents must be submitted:

1.    Application:

An application form as of the age of 18 years

An application form for a child

2.    a document certifying the personality of a non-citizen (passport, identification card, sending documents by post, it is necessary to send only the copy of a personal identification document);

3.    a copy of a personal identification document of a foreign state

or 

4.   a document or a guarantee certifying the fact of acquisition of the US citizenship.  If the copy of document (except for a copy of an identity document) are sent by mail, they must be notarized by Public Notary and notarization must be certified with an Apostille authentication from the Office of the Secretary of State in which the document was issued.
