Consular services are available only by a previously scheduled appointment
Latvian nationals can apply for a new identity document – a passport or a personal ID card (eID) at the Embassy by prior appointment only. Book an appointment here: https://pieraksts.mfa.gov.lv/en/denmark .
The service is available for persons residing in Denmark permanently and having declared their place of residence in Denmark with the Population Register.
Effective from 1 January 2025, the service for updating residence information abroad through the Embassy will be subject to a fee of EUR 50 per person, including minors.
You can update your residence information using one of the following methods:
1. By Post: Send your information to any territorial department of the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs of the Republic of Latvia, along with a copy of your identity document;
2. Using a Secure Electronic Signature: Send an email to any territorial department of the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs, along with a copy of your identity document and using a secure electronic signature;
3. Through eAdrese: Use the official Latvian electronic platform, eAdrese;
4. Through e-service: Use the e-service Declaring or Indicating the Place of Residence.
Persons who have reached the age of 15 are obliged to also receive a personal ID card (eID) when they receive a passport.
Upon arrival, the following forms must be completed:
- application to declare the residence (if applicable);
- application to receive a passport/eID card at the embassy or by post (compulsory for persons aged 15 or over);
- PREVIOUS IDENTITY DOCUMENTS MUST BE RETURNED (even if they have expired). If the prevous document has been lost or destroyed, the notice of loss of the document must be completed.
Only payment cards are accepted for all payments at the embassy. Cash will not be accepted!
The service is available for persons residing abroad permanently and having declared their place of residence abroad with the Population Register.
Visitors must appear in person and present their Latvian passport/personal ID card (eID) and in a case of loss of identity document - a police certificate confirming the loss of the document. See further information on obtaining passports/personal ID card (eID) here.
In addition to a fee for the issuance of a personal identity document via the diplomatic/consular mission, consular service charge of EUR 40 must be paid for every person obtaining a passport/personal ID card (eID).
Due to personal identity documents being produced at the Office for Citizenship and Migration Affairs in Latvia, obtaining a personal identity document via the diplomatic/consular mission can take up to 4-5 weeks.
