On 13 March, the second shipment of humanitarian aid was delivered to the Ukrainian Red Cross Society. The shipment was put together by the Latvian Red Cross with support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Health and individual donors.

The delivery contains auxiliary materials for providing first medical aid and has been compiled in accordance with propositions from the Ukrainian Red Cross Society.

The volume of the second shipment is seven cubic meters, and its total weight – about 600 kg. The value of goods is over EUR 11 000, with transportations costs of EUR 2000.  After the costs of completing the delivery have been covered, the remaining funds donated by Latvian people will be transferred to the International Red Cross Committee in Geneva for providing assistance to Ukraine.

The first shipment of humanitarian aid containing medical supplies and equipment was delivered to Kyiv on 25 February. A day later, in association with the Embassy of Latvia in Ukraine, it was handed over to the Ukrainian Red Cross for providing medical assistance to those who had been injured in the protests in Kyiv.

As reported, the Cabinet of Ministers decided that Latvia would provide humanitarian aid to the protest-torn Ukraine at the amount of EUR 29 718.
