Security measures during the visit of
United States President on May 6 and 7

During the visit of United States President George W. Bush, on May 6 and 7, movement of vehicles and people will be restricted in the centre of Riga, near the hotel "Radisson SAS Daugava", and on the waters of River Daugava between Vanšu Bridge and Akmens Bridge.

The restricted area in the centre of Riga will be closed at midnight of May 6, and restrictions will be removed on May 7, around 7:30 p.m. The restricted area near the hotel "Radisson SAS Daugava", and on the waters of River Daugava between Vanšu Bridge and Akmens Bridge is closed from May 6, 7:00 a.m., until May 7, 9 p.m.

Entrance of vehicles and people into the restricted areas will be possible through special checkpoints.

Checkpoints for people will be established in the following locations:

1. In the restricted area in the centre of Riga, near the junctions of the following streets: Kr. Valdemāra Street and Kronvalda Boulevard, Kalpaka Boulevard and Antonijas Street (only for access to the Press Centre), Brīvības Boulevard and Kalpaka Boulevard, Raiņa Boulevard and Kr. Barona Street, Teātra Street and Vaļņu Street, Šķūņu Street and Tirgoņu Street, as well as Herdera Place and Doma Place;

2. Near the hotel "Radisson SAS Daugava" at the junction of Kuģu Street and Staraja Rusas Street.

Checkpoints for vehicles will be established in the following locations:

1. In the restricted area in the centre of Riga, near the junctions of the following streets: Kr. Valdemāra Street and Kronvalda Boulevard, Kalpaka Boulevard and Antonijas Street (only for access to the Press Centre), Kr. Valdemāra Street and Kalpaka Boulevard, 11 November Embankment and Poļu Street;

2. Near the hotel "Radisson SAS Daugava" at the junction of Trijādības Street and Staraja Rusas Street.

In order to be allowed to enter the restricted areas, people have to present identity documents (passport, driving licence), but drivers of vehicles have to present also the permit issued by security services.

People will be allowed to move around freely in the restricted areas. However, please take into consideration that for short periods of time movement in a particular direction may be restricted by representatives of security services.

Anyone will be allowed to leave the restricted areas (this also applies to people who have entered the security areas prior to their closing). Therefore, on Friday evening, before going to culture or entertainment events, please, take with you an identity document, because representatives of security services may request to present it.
