Media Center and Security Checks

The Media Centre will be located at the New Hall of the Rīgas Kongresa Nams (the Riga Congress Centre). It is situated on Kr. Valdemāra Street 5.  (Map of Riga)

Opening hours of the Media Center:

Friday, 6 May from 10:00 – 1:00

Saturday, 7 May from 7:00 – 24:00

Rīgas Kongresa Nams and the surrounding park will be situated in the restricted area. The only MEDIA ENTRANCE to the Media Centre will be on Kalpaka Blvd (facing the main entrance of the Kongresa Nams) where the security checking will take place. In order to enter the Media Centre media representatives will have to produce the special media badges, which they will be able to collect at the Media Accreditation Centre. The special media parking will be situated under the Rīga Kongresa Nams and accessible by showing press badge to the security personnel (limited spaces; only for vehicles not exceeding 1.9 meters in height).

The following facilities will be available at the Press Center:

  • desktop PC's with internet, word processing, file saving;
  • laptop connections to local internet provider (LAN).  Laptop computers will need to be equipped with RJ 45 plugs in order to be able to connect to the high-speed communication net work (LAN);
  • wireless access to the internet (WLAN);
  • analogue telephone lines for dial-up;
  • printers;
  • photo copiers;
  • fax machines;
  • international telephones;
  • ISDN lines for radio and photograph transmissions (on the first come, first served bases). Please check if you need to use an adapter in "Euro ISDN" standard;
  • audio distribution boxes offering audio feed from the main events (international sound; English);
  • TV transmission of the events;
  • complimentary light snacks and beverages;

All media representatives are informed that security personnel will examine and may test equipment and personal effects carried onto the site and are advised to arrive with sufficient time to pass the security checks. Television and radio broadcasters, wire services and photo agencies with bulky equipment are particularly urged to move most of it into the Media Centre before 20:00 hours on Friday, 6 May 2005.
