Representatives from Latvia participate in the workshop organized by Den Frie Contemporary Art Centre in Copenhagen

With the support of the Latvian Embassy in Denmark, a workshop and debate, organized by Den Frie Center for Contemporary Art, took place in Copenhagen on December 19 in order to develop Latvian-Danish cooperation in international contemporary art projects and to promote publicity and recognition for the ambitious exhibition of Baltic, Nordic and Polish artists to be held in Copenhagen in 2019. Also, the representatives from the Latvian Centre for Contemporary Art, Solvita Krese, Inga Lāce and Andra Silapētere participated in the event as guest speakers. S. Krese, I. Lāce and A. Silapētere presented the project "Unexpected Encounters", which will be part of the grand exhibition in Copenhagen and Riga in 2019, as well as in Warsaw in 2020. The exhibition is planned as a prominent manifestation of contemporary art in the Baltic, Nordic and Polish arenas, which, by exposing different identities, calls for a look at the world's future scenarios. The aim of the exhibition is to invite to see the special development path of the Baltic Sea Region, looking back at its past, as well as identifying the boundaries of reality and fiction. Thus, the project of Latvian artists "Unexpected Encounters" draws attention to the influence of the science fiction genre on the art area, combining historical research and contemporary artists' works.
