Celebration of the 105th Anniversary of the Republic of Latvia
In Denmark, the 105th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Latvia was widely celebrated in six different events.
Introducing the month of celebrations, the embassy organized a meeting with the members of the Association Denmark-Latvia (Foreningen Danmark-Letland) - true friends and supporters of Latvia - who helped build Latvia in the 1990s and continue to promote Latvia's recognition in Denmark.
On November 16, marking the anniversary of Latvia's National Day, the embassy hosted a reception for the diplomatic corps, as well as the embassy's Danish friends and cooperation partners, at the Royal Danish Library in Copenhagen.
On November 18, Ambassador Inga Skujiņa participated in the event organized by Copenhagen Latvian weekend school "Sauleszaķēns" and afterwards, together with the Latvian and Danish friends, laid flowers at the monument at Vestre cemetery in Copenhagen, commemorating those Latvians who have died in exile. On the same day, embassy's Second Secretary Jānis Kalva, gave a speech at the festive event in Ansager organized by the Latvian-Danish Association, celebrating Latvia's 105th birthday.
The week of celebrations concluded with the presentation of the Danish translation of Nora Iksten's novel "Soviet milk", which had just been published in Denmark, as well as the screening of Ināra Kolmane's film with the same title.
