On 15 June 2024, the Embassy of Latvia in Denmark, in cooperation with the international consulting company Rasmussen Global, organized a discussion panel at the largest democracy festival in Scandinavia 'Folkemødet', which took place on 13-15 June in Bornholm, Denmark. Jānis Kažociņš, senior researcher at the Center for Geopolitical Studies Riga, represented Latvia in the discussion about the security of the Baltic Sea region after the war started by Russia in Ukraine and the entry of Finland and Sweden into NATO. This topic is particularly relevant, as Danish troops are being deployed in Latvia on a regular basis.

'Folkemødet' takes place every year and is attended by all high-level Danish politicians, businessmen, media representatives, foreign diplomats, as well as the Danish public. Latvia participated in the festival for the first time and had the opportunity to promote its visibility in an informal atmosphere, to address the Danish society and convey its view on the security of the Baltic Sea region. The discussion panel was well-attended, approximately several hundred festival-goers attended the discussion.
