Celebration of the 35th Anniversary of the Baltic Way in Copenhagen
On Thursday, 28 August the Baltic community living in Denmark and the friends of the Baltic countries celebrated the 35th anniversary of the Baltic Way. In honour of the anniversary of the Baltic Way, the ambassadors of the Baltic countries in Copenhagen addressed the attendees of the event.
On 23 August 1989, the Baltic States confirmed to the world their unity, belonging to Europe and longing for democracy, standing in an uninterrupted line from Tallinn to Riga and Vilnius. As Latvian ambassador in Denmark Inga Skujina emphasized in her speech, this phenomenal event is not just a page of history for the Baltic countries on the way to restoring their independence, as it still continues to inspire people all over the world.
The 35th anniversary of the Baltic Way was celebrated in Copenhagen in the famous Vor Frelsers Kirke with a concert of Baltic organ music performed by James D. Hicks. The event was attended by Baltic people living in Denmark, foreign diplomats and friends and partners of the Baltic countries in Denmark.
