Latvia represented for the first time at Aarhus Festival in Denmark

On 5 September 2024, the discussion "Is it easy to be young?" was held as part of Aarhus Festuge. The discussion was organized in cooperation with the Danish youth non-governmental organization Silba Aarhus and Aarhus community center Dokk1.

The conversation was based on Juris Podnieks' legendary 1986 film of the same title. The discussion raised questions about how youth differs in different regimes and historical events. Reflecting on the fragments of Juris Podnieks' film, young people of Latvia and Denmark - Elizabete Klēra Bože and Mette Schwartz - together with the former head of the Danish Cultural Institute in Riga (1990-2003) Rikke Helms discussed the everyday life, growing up and future perspectives of young people in Latvia and Denmark then and now.
