Latvia, together with its Nordic partners, will continue supporting Ukraine’s civil society to strengthen its resilience and jointly overcome the consequences of the war
At the Nordic Ukraine Advocacy Summit 2026 in Copenhagen, Latvia was represented by a delegation from the NGO "Tavi Draugi" and the organisation "Ukrainian House in Latvia".
The event, held at the Danish Parliament, brought together policymakers, NGOs, and international partners from the Nordic and Baltic countries (NB8) to discuss current practices and coordinate future support for Ukraine and its refugees.
The summit’s agenda focused on the crucial role of civil society and diaspora communities in mitigating the impact of conflict. The Latvian representatives shared their experience in community self‑organisation and resilience-building, highlighting the support provided by Latvia’s NGO sector and the state since the beginning of Russia’s full‑scale invasion.
In the panel "Nordic–Ukrainian Civil Axis: From Networking to Systemic Cooperation", Latvia was represented by Lolita Čigāne, who since 2025 has served as Latvia’s representative in the EU Advisory Mission (EUAM) in Ukraine.
Latvia's participation in the summit directly supports its priorities in the UN Security Council - promoting an inclusive approach to crisis response. This means that addressing security challenges requires the active involvement not only of state institutions but also of the non-governmental sector.
