On 10-11 June 2026, the Head of Latvia’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) Centre, Guna Pūce, paid an official visit to Copenhagen, where she met with leading national experts in the digital field to exchange knowledge on AI policy development.

The visit, organized by the Embassy of Latvia in Denmark, aimed to explore Denmark’s best practices and strategies for the practical integration of artificial intelligence into public administration. Denmark is currently one of the global leaders in digital governance, making this exchange of experience a highly valuable contribution to the development and efficiency of Latvia’s AI ecosystem.

During the visit, the Latvian delegation held several high-level meetings. In discussions with Denmark’s Tech Ambassador, Anne Marie Engtoft Meldgaard, participants explored global technological trends, geopolitics, and innovation diplomacy.

At the research centre CAISA, a meeting was held with Chief Scientist Professor Stine Lomborg to discuss how to bridge academic research with practical AI solutions.

Anders Juul Rasmussen, representing the Danish Agency for Digital Government, provided insights into nationwide digital transformation strategies and secure data governance.

Meanwhile, Thea Harresø Houden, Deputy Head of Denmark’s AI Digital Task Force, offered practical insights into how Denmark is already implementing AI tools in public sector processes.

The key takeaway from the visit is that Denmark’s experience clearly demonstrates that successful integration of artificial intelligence requires a balanced approach - combining innovation, security, and public trust.
