On 13 February 2023 Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia to Ireland Juris Štālmeistars paid a courtesy visit to new Director General of the Institute of International and European Affairs Alex White.

Ambassador informed Director General about the foreign policy priorities of Latvia and mentioned possible cooperation topics in which Latvia could provide its added value and expertise in regularly organised discussions of the IIEA. Ambassador stressed that Latvia's task is to support Ukraine in all possible ways in the fight against the aggressor country Russia, also explaining Russia's imperialist ambitions, which it expands, including in covert disinformation campaigns, trying to keep its influence far beyond the borders of the conflict at all costs. The Ambassador also mentioned an interest in sharing experience in other areas that are relevant to Irelands policy, where Latvia has gained experience or has made priorities in its policy, such as digitalisation and development of renewable energy sources, cyber security, combating disinformation, illegal migration as well as other contemporary challenges and hybrid warfare types.

Mr White thanked the Ambassador for the visit, revealing that he was the first of the Ambassadors to meet at the institute's premises and confirmed interest in continuing the existing cooperation on topics identified by the Ambassador.
