
Embassy invites to visit the second Baltic Film festival in Cork

The Embassy of Latvia in Ireland invites to visit the second Baltic Film Festival in Ireland which will take place from 4 – 5 April 2025 in Triskel Arts Centre, Tobin Street, Cork.
The three Baltic countries – Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania – are celebrating the 35th anniversary of the regained Independence in 2025. This year marks a significant milestone for the three nations, commemorating their journey to freedom, democracy and prosperity. This anniversary is being marked with various events and ceremonies across the Baltic countries and beyond.
To bring peoples of the three Baltic States and Ireland closer together as well as to mark the 35th anniversary of our regained Independence Ambassadors of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania to Ireland will launch the second Baltic Film Festival in Cork. This festival will provide people of Ireland with great opportunity to learn more about live and culture of the three Baltic nations.
The festival is organized by the Embassies of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia to Ireland in cooperation with the Triskel Arts Center. The opening reception of the annual Baltic Film Festival will take place in Triskel Arts Centre on 4th April at 5.30 pm before the screening of "Tasty"/"Gardutė" movie.

FESTIVAL PROGRAMME
4th April, Friday, at 6.30 pm a Lithuanian feature movie "Tasty"/"Gardutė" will be screened, followed by a panel with film director Ms Eglė Vertelytė. This lively culinary comedy mixes cheesy TV drama, witty satire, friendship melodrama and lively folk songs. It is a whimsical criticism of the entertainment industry, as well as a denunciation of its superficiality. A movie that questions false perspectives and shallow values on many levels.

5th April, Saturday, at 5.00 pm a Latvian movie "The Exalted"/"Cildenie" by Juris Kursietis will be screened. Short synopsis of the movie: Renowned German organist Anna discovers her Latvian husband's involvement in a corruption scandal, shaking the foundation of their life together. Can she come to terms with this new reality about her husband?

5th April, Saturday, at 7.00 pm an Estonian movie "The Invisible Fight" by Rainer Sarnet starts. The movie deploys an explosive mix of kung fu, heavy metal, and Orthodox Christianity. It is a kung fu comedy set in an Orthodox monastery in 1970’s Soviet Union.
