Latvian nationals can apply for a new identity document – a passport and a personal ID card (eID) at the Embassy.

The service is available for persons residing in Moldova permanently and having declared their place of residence in Moldova with the Register of Natural Persons.

Starting from January 1, 2023, persons who have reached the age of 15 are obliged to also receive a personal ID card (eID) when they receive a passport.

Visitors must appear in person and present their Latvian passport/personal ID card (eID) and in a case of loss of identity document - a police certificate confirming the loss of the document. Previous identity documents must be returned (even if they have expired).  Visitors must bring one document photo 5 cm x 6 cm in colour when coming to make a new passport and/ or a personal ID card.

See further information on obtaining passports/personal ID card (eID) here.

In addition to a fee for the issuance of a personal identity document via the diplomatic/consular mission, consular service charge of EUR 50 must be paid for every person obtaining a passport/personal ID card (eID).

Only bank cards are accepted for all payments at the Embassy. Cash will not be accepted!

Due to personal identity documents being produced at the Office for Citizenship and Migration Affairs in Latvia, obtaining a personal identity document via the diplomatic/consular mission can take up to one month.

Consular services are available only by a previously scheduled appointment here or by phone +373 22025260.
