NB! In order to strengthen State security and improve the efficiency of State border guarding, from 1 September 2025 third country nationals (including the citizens of the Republic of Moldova), who have not been issued a visa or residence permit in Latvia, are obliged to submit certain information regarding themselves, their relatives (if any) and the purpose of travel to the State threat prevention information system eta.gov.lv 48 hours before entering Latvia. Consular Services
Visas
The citizens of the Republic of Moldova who have a biometric passport are not required a visa to enter Latvia and can stay in its territory for up to 90 days in any 180-day period.
Please be informed that the Embassy of the Republic of Latvia to the Republic of Moldova doesn't issue any kind of visas. If you reside in Moldova and you need a visa to enter Latvia, you can apply for a short term Schengen Visa to enter Latvia at the Common Application Centre (CAC) at the Embassy of Hungary.
Residence permits
Documents for residence permits can be submitted in person at the consular section of the Embassy by prior appointment ONLY.
