The next Latvian Ambassador to Belgium Aiga Liepiņa receives credentials

On 17 August 2023 in Riga Castle, the President of Latvia, Edgars Rinkēvičs, presented the letter of credence to the next Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Latvia to the Kingdom of Belgium, Aiga Liepiņa.

Aiga Liepiņa began working for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1995, when she joined the Personnel Department. Later she took up a post at the International Organisations and Human Rights Division, being subsequently appointed head of division and director of the department.

Aiga Liepiņa has been posted to the Permanent Mission of Latvia to the United Nations in New York and accredited as Ambassador at the Permanent Representation of Latvia to the Council of Europe and non-resident Ambassador to Serbia.

From 2019 until present, Ms Liepiņa has been Ambassador of Latvia to the Netherlands while also serving as non-resident Ambassador to the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).  

Aiga Liepiņa is Commander of the Order of the Three Stars.

Upon graduating from the University of Latvia, she has earned a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and a Master’s in Political Science, specialising in international relations; received further education in Finland, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and France.

Aiga Liepiņa succeeds current Ambassador Andris Razāns, who has held the post since 2019.
