Ambassador’s Maija Manika working visit to Mongolia
On May 15-18, Ambassador H.E. Ms. Maija Manika paid a working visit to Ulan-Bator to participate in the programme of Ambassadors of European Union Member States accredited to Mongolia.
As part of the programme, a meeting took place with Mongolian Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Amarsaihan Sainbuyan, Minister of Justice and Home Affairs, as well as Minister of Energy. Discussions were also held with representatives of think tanks, political parties, religious, non-governmental and business organisations.
In view of nearing end of her Ambassadorial tenure, H.E. Ms. Maija Manika met with Foreign Ministry Secretary of State H.E. Mr. Ankbayar Nijamdordj. The meeting discussed preparations for political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries, which will take place in Ulan-Bator in early June, as well as Latvia's participation in the annual Ulan-Bator Dialogue conference.
The both sides also discussed the preparation of the bilateral Air Transport Agreement for signing in the near future. The Mongolian side expressed interest in closer cooperation with Latvia in the veterinary field.
Latvia’s Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador Maija Manika has been accredited to Mongolia since 2019 and serves as non-resident Ambassador to Mongolia with residency in Beijing, People's Republic of China.
