The Latvian Ambassador Kārlis Eihenbaums submits copies of credentials to the Foreign Ministry of Mongolia
On 4 June 2025, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, the Ambassador of Latvia Kārlis Eihenbaums met with the State Secretary Munkhtushig Lkhanaajav and the Director General of the Department for Europe and Africa, Battungalag Gankhuurai, and submitted the copies of his credentials.
The Latvian Ambassador and officials representing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia expressed their commitment to continuing and promoting further development of bilateral relations between Latvia and Mongolia, in the spirit of peace, peoples’ prosperity and mutual understanding through maintaining a regular diplomatic dialogue and supporting the deepening of economic and cultural ties.
The Ambassador appreciated Mongolia’s supportive and friendly stance, including its vote in favour of Latvia’s non-permanent membership on the United Nations Security Council in the 3 June election.
Ambassador Eihenbaums called for an even more active dialogue and cooperation and made note of the role of all UN member countries – they bear a high level of responsibility, particularly important in today’s turbulent geopolitical climate when an aggressive war of conquest has been launched and conflicts are under way in the Middle East, Africa and elsewhere.
The Ambassador underlined: “Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine is not a regional conflict, it is also a war affecting Northeast Asia, since soldiers and weapons even from this region are involved in the war which kills Ukrainians, kills Europeans. The war has exacerbated economic, food, health, environmental and climate challenges, all of which are important to Mongolia as well.” The Ambassador also emphasised the need to improve the global and regional security situation through strong compliance with the international law, the principles of national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
