Embassy of Latvia participates in the Global Sustainable Transport Forum
From 25-26 September 2023, the Embassy of the Republic of Latvia in the People’s Republic of China participated in the Global Sustainable Transport Forum in Beijing. The two-day event was hosted by the Ministry of Transport of the People’s Republic of China.
On 25 September 2023, H.E. Maija Manika, Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia and Mr Helmuts Kols, the Counsellor of the Ministry of Transport of Latvia at the Embassy of Latvia in China, attended the opening ceremony of the GSTF and participated in the thematic sessions.
The GSTF showcased the latest progress made in China’s sustainable transport efforts and introduced China’s practices in the field of sustainable transport developments. The forum themes and cooperative dialogue is a continuity to the agenda of the Second United Nations Global Sustainable Transport Conference held in Beijing in 2022.
Latvia's transport and logistics sector embraces the GSTF theme: “Connectivity: Promoting Connectivity in the Digital Age” and “Common Development: Leaving No Country or No One Behind” and actively seeks to participate, contribute, and reap the benefits from bilateral and multilateral engagement with China and other countries in pushing forward the sustainable transport and logistics developments.
Latvia’s transport and logistics sector is paying close attention to green and low-carbon green innovations to move towards sustainable infrastructure and global transport connectivity for national and global economic recovery.
