New Ambassador of Latvia accredited to Hungary
On 20 January 2021, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Latvia to Hungary, Agnese Kalniņa, presented her credentials to the President of Hungary, János Áder. The accreditation cermony took place at the Sándor Palace in Budapest.
In a conversation with the President, the Ambassador expressed her determination to continue the work of strengthening of bilateral relations between the two countries by pursuing an active political dialogue and advancing business contacts and cultural cooperation. In 2021, Latvia and Hungary will celebrate the centenary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations, which is a major milestone for the further multifaceted cooperation. The officials also discussed challenges which Latvia and Hungary have to address during the COVID-19 pandemic.
After submitting her credentials and a meeting with the Hungarian President, in an offical ceremony, Ambassador Kalniņa laid a wreath at the Millennium Monument in the Heroes’ Square (Hősök tere).
