The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia welcomes both rounds of the presidential election in Moldova on 1 and 15 November and joins with the opinion offered by the OSCE/ODIHR that the election was organised professionally despite challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic; fundamental freedoms and political competitiveness were generally observed and respected.
In the context of holding presidential elections, Latvia attaches great importance to respect for democratic principles and the will of the Moldovan people. The Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls on Moldova to continue cooperation with the OSCE/ODIHR to improve the electoral process.
Representatives from the Embassy of Latvia in Moldova took part in the observation of the elections.
