Topical information concerning the visit of United States President

On May 6, the working day of institutions and organisations located within the security areas will be not affected by security measures connected with the visit of the United States President. During this time, their operation will not be restricted and the necessary motor transport will be allowed to enter and leave the security areas.

Only in the buildings where events connected with the visit will take place, coordination of activities has been initiated with the heads of these institutions, in order to ensure the programme of the visit.

No regular flights from or to the Riga International Airport will be cancelled or significantly delayed. Charter flights and flights of small aircraft will be cancelled. Information about the procedure how passengers and other people should arrive at the airport for checking in or arriving will be concretised later. 

The most significant security-related activities are planned from afternoon of May 6 till the evening of May 7. Security areas and areas with movement restrictions can still be changed according to changes in the programme of the visit of the United States President. Additional and more detailed information will be provided regularly.

Citizens and employees of institutions and organisations will be provided with the necessary emergency medical services. Availability of other emergency and operational services will be insured. There will be no changes in the procedure of calling these services or the quality of these services.

Due to the interest of citizens, from May 2, a toll-free telephone line will be opened with the number 8008282. In working hours from 9 a.m. till 5 p.m. the officer on duty will be available by calling this number.

The schedule of trains will not be changed. Information on the operation of public transport in Rīga and movement across the Akmens Bridge and Vanšu bridge will be concretised later.

People are asked to declare their places of residence in Old Rīga and other parts of the city that are within the security areas, and to carry with them identity documents that will have to be presented to representatives of security services.
