The Ambassador of Latvia submits credentials to the President of the Republic of Korea
On 28 October 2024, in an official ceremony in Seoul, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia, Jānis Bērziņš, submitted a letter of credence to the President of the Republic of Korea, Yoon Suk Yeol, with the country’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cho Tae-yul, in attendance.
The Ambassador conveyed greetings from President Edgars Rinkēvičs to the President of the Republic of Korea and expressed his hope for a successful visit by the President of Latvia to the Republic of Korea in late November. The Ambassador voiced his determination to work towards expanding the relations between Latvia and the Republic of Korea, as well as promoting economic ties and cooperation in the field of security.
In his current posting, Jānis Bērziņš succeeds Āris Vīgants as Latvia’s third resident Ambassador to the Republic of Korea.
Diplomatic relations between Latvia and Korea were established on 22 October 1991.
