XII Latvian Culture Festival in Ireland
On Sunday, 30 April 2023, the XII Latvian Culture Festival in Dublin concluded with an extensive programme. The event began with a Latvian Culture Festival’s procession along the streets of Temple Bar district accompanied by Latvian folk songs.
During the opening address Minister of Culture Mr Nauris Puntulis, Ambassador-at-Large for the Diaspora at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia Ms Elita Gavele and Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia to Ireland Mr Juris Štālmeistars thanked Latvians in Ireland for their unrelenting work in preserving their cultural heritage, especially this year in preparation for the upcoming XXVII Nationwide Latvian Song and XVII Dance Festival. The Ambassador paid tribute to the Latvian Society in Ireland for its contribution to the annual organisation of these festivals.
Latvian artistic clusters, Latvian schools, theatre group, guests from Latvia and Lithuanian, Estonian and Polish communities in Ireland, craftsmen, Latvian food traders from Ireland and Northern Ireland took part in the festivities. During the day, it was also possible to get acquainted with tourism information about Latvia and meet with the remigration coordinators of Riga and Kurzeme Region.
The Latvian Culture Festival was organised by Latvian Society in Ireland in cooperation with Embassy of the Republic of Latvia and Temple Bar Company. The festivities were supported in part financially by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia.
