Project of intensive cooperation of volunteers of Moldova and Latvia
An example of intensive cooperation between volunteers was demonstrated by non-governmental organizations (NGOs) from Moldova and Latvia. For several months, they have united people in the fight against COVID-19.
In a joint bilateral cooperation project entitled "Initiative Together Against COVID-19," the Latvian NGO Paliec majas = Viegli palidzet ("Stay at home = Easy to help"), together with the other organizations in Latvia, worked with the Moldovan NGO - Voluntar.md
The aim of the cooperation is to combat the consequences of the pandemic by bringing together people in Moldova and Latvia who want to provide support, but do not have enough time or relevant information.
Uldis Mikuts, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Latvia to Moldova, made a speech at the conference dedicated to the completion of the project funded by the Latvian state.
The diplomat said that "Moldova has been a priority recipient of Latvia's aid since 2005."
The Ambassador noted "the importance of joint work of Latvian and Moldovan social movements in the fight against the consequences of COVID-19."
The Latvian official expressed confidence that "the well-established cooperation of the volunteers of the two countries will continue."
The conference participants agreed that "the final event is not the end of cooperation, but the beginning of important actions of volunteers from Latvia and Moldova to involve the municipalities of the two countries in the implementation of tools to support people in the COVID-19 pandemic."
