Due to COVID19 pandemics as per Cabinet of the Republic of Latvia regulations No. 662, adopted on September 28, 2021, currently ONLY definite categories of travellers are allowed to enter to Latvia. For the list of exempted categories, please refer to the section Applying for a Long Stay (national) visa.
If you fall under one of the categories that qualifies for visa application submission and is allowed to enter to Latvia, please follow visa application submission procedures at the Embassy of Latvia in India described below:
Applicants from India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Maldives and Myanmar who are going to Latvia based on employment agreement can submit Long Stay (D) visa applications through six VFS VACs in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Cochin.
Starting from May 2021 all applicants from India applying for a Long Stay visa with a purpose ''employment in Latvia'' are subjected to a visa support document verification with service provider Hello Verify India Private Limited.
Step by step guidelines, as well as document submission for verification, are available on http://visa.helloverify.com. Please note that document verification should be done prior to visa application submission at the VFS Global Latvia. NB! Without Hello Verify transaction number, appointment for visa application submission at VFS WILL NOT be granted.
After visa support document verification submission with Hello Verify, applicants from India can submit Long Stay (D) visa application through six VFS VACs in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Cochin.
Applicants from Sri Lanka can submit Long Stay (D) visa application through VFS VAC in Colombo.
Applicants from Nepal, Maldives and Myanmar can submit Long Stay (D) visa application through VFS VACs in India.
Applicants from Bangladesh can submit Long Stay (D) visa application through VFS VAC in Delhi.
· Name of employer in Latvia;
· Invitation number approved by OCMA;
· Confirmation on the necessity of the arrival issued by the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA);
· Name, surname and date of birth of the applicant;
· Passport Number;
· Applicants’ phone number and contact email address.
Embassy will evaluate whether requested visa application submission falls under any of the exempted categories stipulated by the Cabinet of the Republic of Latvia regulations No. 662. If the applicant can proceed with visa submission, Embassy will inform VFS and appointment will be allocated.
Applicants have to undergo video interviewing with the Embassy. Video interview date will be allocated by the VFS during document submission. Interview will be conducted at the VFS VACs.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR THE EMPLOYMENT LONG STAY VISA:
Passport with a period of validity extending at least three months after the intended date of departure from Latvia or other Member State, and containing at least two blank pages. Copies of the identification pages and the pages that contain information about previously issued visas.
2. Long stay visa e-application form printed and signed by the applicant.
3. One photo
(Size 35mm x 45 mm) must be taken during visa submission
4. Invitation approved by the OCMA
An invitation by applicant’s employer in Latvia that is approved by the OCMA has to be submitted. The invitation should be dated not later than 6 months prior to the application date.
5. Employment agreement
A copy of a signed employment agreement has to be submitted along with the documents. If not applicable - original private bank account statement showing the movements during the last three months with balance confirmation letter from the bank duly stamped and signed by the bank; Indian income tax return acknowledgment for the last three assessment years (please note that Form 26AS as well as Form 16/ 16 A has to be submitted along with ITR-V).
6. Proof of accommodation
A copy of a proof of your intended residence in Latvia has to be submitted along with the documents.
7. Proof of the previous employment + ITRs
Originals presented and copies of your prior employment proof (3 years of work experience) to be submitted. Indian income tax return acknowledgment for the last three assessment years (please note that Form 26AS as well as Form 16/ 16 A has to be submitted along with ITR-V) – if not applicable then an alternative document should be submitted or an explanation why such document can not be provided.
8. Proof of the previous education
Originals presented and copies of your prior education diplomas and mark sheets have to be submitted. Education has to be obtained in the same field as planned employment.
9. Ticket reservation
An air ticket reservation stating the intended entry to Schengen area must be submitted. Please note that the Embassy is not responsible for purchased tickets in case of the visa refusal.
10. Travel medical insurance
Travel insurance to be valid for the whole Schengen area and covering the entire period of the intended visit (90 days). The minimum coverage of 42,600 EUR including the costs of urgent medical attention and/or emergency hospital treatment in case of an illness as well as medical transportation and repatriation in the event of death. Medical insurance policy can be obtained in applicant’s country of residence, or in any other country, or taken out by the inviting person. It is important that the insurance meets all the above requirements.
11. Hello Verify conformation slip – for applicants from India only
Confirmation received from Hello Verify for successfully uploaded visa application supporting documents for verification.
12. Visa fee of 60 EUR
VFS applies service charges as well as fee for the video interviewing.
VFS Service charge in India: Applicants applying at the Latvian Visa Application Centres in India shall be levied a service charge of 2126 INR (inclusive of Goods and Service Tax –SGST @9% and CGST@9%) payable in cash or by debit/credit card. To limit spread of COVID19 infection currently courier facility IS MANDATORY. Price for the service is 450 INR (Inclusive of Goods and Service Tax –SGST @9% and CGST@9%) per application / passport. Video Conferencing is 2756 INR
VFS Service charge in Sri Lanka (Inc.Tax): 6636 LKR; Mandatory 2-way courier: 7166 LKR. Video Conferencing is 7104 LKR
· The applicable visa fee in Indian Rupees/Sri Lankan Rupees is as per the current exchange rate. The same is subject to change without notice.
· The Visa fee and service charges are non-refundable in case the visa is refused.
Information on Epidemiological Safety Measures for the Containment of the Spread of COVID-19 Infection and self-isolation requirements upon arrival to Latvia are available on the Official COVID19 pandemics in Latvia informative webpage https://covid19.gov.lv/en.
Currently due to Covid-19 pandemics travellers may enter into Latvia based on the following requirements:
- a Covid-19 test (only PCR test is recognized) must be taken, the negative result of which must be presented upon boarding or another medical document certifying that the person is not infectious has to be presented. The PCR test result or certificate must be issued within the last 72 hours!
- within 48 hours before the arrival, person must fill in the electronic form on the Covidpass.lv website, indicating the result of the test and the purpose of the arrival.
