A seminar to promote economic relations between Latvia and Türkiye hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

On 6 December 2024, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed a visit from members of the Alanya Chamber of Commerce and Industry, with participation of more than 30 businesspeople representing the sectors of metalworking, pharmaceuticals, construction, environmental engineering, tourism, and agriculture from the region of Alanya in Türkiye, and interested in long-term cooperation with Latvian companies.

The seminar was held in order to promote economic relations between Latvia and Türkiye and provide a platform for establishing mutual contacts.

The participants were addressed by the Ambassador of Latvia to Türkiye, Bahtijors Hasans, and the Ambassador of Türkiye to Latvia, Şule Öztunç. A representative from the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia, Deniss Čamovs, a representative from the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Katrīna Zariņa, and the Balttour 2025 project manager, Gints Ozoliņš, acquainted the visitors with the business and investment environment, Latvia’s advantages and investment projects. The President of the Industry and Business Association of Alanya, for his part, outlined to Latvian companies the business sectors presenting interest for Alanya region in cooperation with Latvia.

During the seminar, Latvian and Turkish businessmen had the opportunity to establish contacts with potential cooperation partners.

Latvia was represented by 12 companies from the fields of construction, information technology, smart transport management, design of engineering networks, education, and tourism.

The visit was organised by Latvian Honorary Consul in Alanya, Nurkan Şaşmaz, in cooperation with the Latvian Embassy in Türkiye and the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and industry.
