Celebration of the 106th anniversary of the Proclamation of the Republic of Latvia in Vilnius
On 20 November 2024, the Embassy of Latvia in Lithuania organised a festive reception in Vilnius at the Radvila Palace Art Museum.
The 106th anniversary of the Proclamation of the Republic of Latvia was celebrated in a warm festive atmosphere, in the presence of Lithuanian officials and cooperation partners, as well as the diplomatic corps. The celebration was accompanied musically by singers living in Lithuania - sopranos Monta Martinsone, Gunta Gelgote and Aija Jermoloviča, and Mantauts Krukausks took care of the musical accompaniment.
Addressing the guests of the event, Ambassador Solveiga Silkalna emphasized faith in victory and resilience, which once helped Latvia, together with Lithuania and Estonia, regain independence from the Soviet Empire and join the European Union and NATO. The ambassador invited to remember all those who already for 1000 days have fought for the freedom of Ukraine and all of Europe. The Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Ambassador LaimonasTalat-Kelpša, in his address expressed his satisfaction with the close and successful cooperation between Latvia and Lithuania and wished Latvia a lot of happiness.
The guests of the event had a unique opportunity to see the future exhibition about the legendary Latvian avant-garde movement "Workshop for the Restoration of Unfelt Feelings", which will be opened in the premises of the Radvila Palace Art Museum on 21 November and will be on display until 23 February 2025. The exhibition is organized by the Latvian Centre for Contemporary Art in partnership with the National Museum of Art of Lithuania and with the support of the Embassy of Latvia in Lithuania.
