
Minister of Defence Andris Sprūds visits Embassy

On 22-23 January 2025, Minister of Defence of Latvia Andris Sprūds participated in the meeting of Defense ministers' of the Baltic States in Vilnius.
Ministers of Defence of Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania agreed to urgently increase defence spending in EU and NATO countries, setting a new criterion - at least 3% of GDP. Minister of Defence A. Sprūds stressed that "Russia remains a long-term threat to Europe and the alliance as a whole. The Baltic states, bordering on an aggressor state, are aware that the next few years are especially determined for us to purposefully develop the armed defense forces and strengthen our combat readiness".
The Minister of Defence also visited Embassy and met with Embassy staff.
