Ambassador Solveiga Silkalna meets with Minister of Economy and Innovation of Lithuania

On 3 March 2025 Ambassador Solveiga Silkalna met with the Minister of Economy and Innovation of Lithuania Lukas Savickas.

Minister L. Savickas emphasized that Lithuania and Latvia are close partners in all areas, especially in the field of tourism, but we can always do more. During the meeting, issues regarding cooperation in the field of military industry, as well as tourism, trade and export were raised. Minister also emphasized that a great example of cooperation between Lithuania and Latvia is the joint pavillion at EXPO this year in Japan, Osaka. Ambassador informed Minister about areas where Latvia sees opportunities to develop cooperation with Lithuania - ICT, specialized fields, MI, start-up, tourism, space and energy.

L. Savickas admited that he would like to participate in the Nameja award 2025 ceremony, which is planned for this fall in Vilnius. The Chamber of Commerce of Latvia in Lithuania, Embassy of Latvia in Lithuania and Chamber of Trade and Industries of Latvia organize a competition and an award ceremony "Nameja balva" for the most succesful Latvian companies doing business in Lithuania and the best cooperations partners Lithuanian companies. Nameja award is excellent recognition of the close economic cooperation between Latvia and Lithuania. The winners of the award are both awarded with a ring and a diploma. This year, the Nameja award competition will be held for the 15th time.
