Oscar-winning Latvian animated film "Flow" premiere in Lithuania - we invite you to watch it in cinemas across Lithuania

On 6 March 2025, the premiere of the film "Straume" (English "Flow") took place in Vilnius as part of the "Kino pavasaris" festival, but from March 28, the Latvian Oscar-winning film will be available to watch in cinemas across Lithuania.

Film festival "Kino pavasaris" which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, was opened in a festive atmosphere with the premiere of the film "Straume". The event was attended by Minister of Culture of Lithuania Šarūnas Birutis, Vilnius Mayor Valdas Benkunskas and Ambassador of Latvia Solveiga Silkalna. Viewers were greeted remotely by the Director of "Straume" Gints Zilbalodis.

The film "Straume" (Lithuanian "Potvynis") was a phenomenal success in Lithuania as well - full cinemas both at nine in the morning and at ten in the evening - no other film at the "Kino pavasaris" which just concluded on March 23, could gain such a phenomenal attendance. The festival organizers call it a universal success that has enchanted viewers of all ages - sold-out halls at the film festival in Lithuania's largest cities and heartfelt applause from the audience after the film. "Straume" became the opening film of the "Kino pavasaris" 30th anniversary.

The wave of interest in the story of the dark gray cat is just growing and from 28 March, the film will begin a tour across Lithuania. At the same time, thousands of people from Vilnius, Kaunas and Klaipėda have already made pictures with the 3m high inflatable cat. It is planned that the film's mascot will also continue to travel around Lithuania. From 28 to 30 March, the mascot will visit the newly renovated cinema "Dainava" in Alytus, then will return to Vilnius, as well as visit Klaipėda again and make its debut in Šiauliai and Marijampolė - and thus the mascot will go on tour across Lithuania in April and maybe even longer. The film is distributed in Lithuania by "Kino Pavasaris Distribution".
