Ambassadors of Latvia and Estonia met with Minister of Environment of Lithuania

On 13 March 2025, after the joint initiative of Latvia and Estonia, Ambassadors Solveiga Silkalna and Kaili Terras met with the Minister of the Environment of Lithuania Povilas Poderskis.

Minister P. Poderskis emphasized that there are no urgent issues among the Baltic States, but there are always issues on which we do cooperate. Baltic cooperation in the field of environment this year is led by Estonia. For Minister the priority issues are  environment, attracting investment to the sector, creating new jobs and supporting entrepreneurs in the field of environment.

Minister welcomed Latvia's intention to build wind farms in forests, which would not disturb local residents. Ambassador S. Silkalna expressed gratutiude for the cooperation of the Lithuanian side with Latvian colleagues in the Ministry of Smart Administration and Regional Development and the Ministry of Climate and Energy, including by hosting Latvian colleagues on a visit to Lithuania to introduce Lithuania's best practice with the latest regulation for the supervision of small hydroelectric power plants.
