Rainis 160th anniversary celebrated in Vilnius

On 9 August 2025, the 160th anniversary of the outstanding Latvian intellectual, poet and cultural figure Rainis was celebrated in Vilnius. Thus, Vilnius has joined those cities around the world celebrating Rainis 160th anniversary. At the beginning of the event, Gunta Rone, the head of the Vilnius Latvian Society, introduced the audience to the life and work of Rainis. This was followed by a performance by the amateur theater "Vecsaule" with "Nakts raksti".

The event was organized by the Vilnius Latvian Society and was supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia from the funds of the Diaspora Support Project Program.
