Ambassadors of Latvia and Estonia met with Minister of Environment of Lithuania

On 3 November 2025, after the joint initiative of Latvia and Estonia, Ambassadors Solveiga Silkalna and Kaili Terras met with the Minister of the Environment of Lithuania Kastytis Žuromskas. 

Minister K.Žuromskas highlighted priority issues for the upcoming year, especially the impact of Russian shadow fleet ships on the environment and pollution of the Baltic Sea. Priority issues also include the restructuring of the construction sector, housing issues and preparations for Lithuania's Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2027.

Minister welcomed the initiative of the Baltic environment ministers to meet together early next year. Ambassadors and Minister also discussed issues such as the building renovation process in the Baltic States, support from Latvia and Estonia for residents to purchase electric cars and whether there are CO2-free zones in cities of Latvia and Estonia.
