Photo Exhibition Beautiful Liepāja — 400 in Šiauliai

On 14 May 2026, Deputy Head of Mission Santa Krūze opened the photo exhibition “Beautiful Liepāja – 400” in Šiauliai. The exhibition introduces Šiauliai residents and visitors to Liepāja — Latvia’s third‑largest city — its history, and its many-layered stories. It also offers a glimpse into the city that will become the European Capital of Culture in 2027.

The exhibition features 56 historical photographs taken from the late 19th century up to the end of Latvia’s first period of independence. Using the “Old Libau” app, visitors can compare historical locations with their present-day views or watch archival video footage.

The exhibition was created in cooperation between the Embassy of Latvia in Lithuania and Association “Liepāja 400”. A heartfelt thank‑you goes to Regina Kvašīte for her dedication to preserving the Latvian language and culture in Šiauliai and for her invaluable support in organising the exhibition.

The exhibition is on display at the Information Centre of the Šiauliai Academy of Vilnius University Library (Vytauto g. 84) until 29 May 2026.
