President of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs took part in the meeting of Baltic Presidents' with the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen in Vilnius

On 26 May 2026, President of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs participated in the meeting of the Presidents of the Baltic States with the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen in Vilnius. Ambassador Solveiga Silkalna participated in the Latvian delegation.

During the meeting, E. Rinkēvičs emphasized the need for broader European Union support for the eastern border regions. "As Russia’s full-scale military operations in Ukraine continue, security challenges at the EU’s eastern border are growing. Strengthening security and civil protection, ensuring public welfare, and maintaining and promoting economic activity are all priority tasks for clearly demonstrating the EU’s united stance," acknowledged President of Latvia.
