Baltic and Nordic ministers meet Belgian Minister of Energy

The Embassy of Latvia in Belgium convened a meeting of the Ambassadors of the Baltic and Nordic countries in the NB8 format, with the presence of the Minister of Energy of Belgium, Tinne Van der Straeten. The primary objective of the meeting was to support and promote the diversification of renewable energy resources, ensure the continuous availability of energy supplies, and strengthen cooperation between the Baltic and Northern Sea regions. The discussion took place within the framework of the European Union's strategic green transition initiative, aimed at ensuring sustainable and environmentally responsible societies and economies across the continent. The delegates discussed critical energy sector issues and shared insights on how to strengthen cooperation towards achieving the common goal of a sustainable future.

During the meeting, Minister Van der Straeten was briefed of the most significant recent developments in the energy sectors of the NB8 countries. The Minister, in turn, provided the Ambassadors in attendance with her insights on current energy sector developments in Belgium and the European Union. The participants discussed the opportunities for collaboration that exist between the NB8 countries and Belgium in promoting the integration of the Baltic and North Sea energy sectors in accordance with EU strategic decisions and the interests of their respective economies. The meeting focused on key issues related to strengthening the energy security of the European Union in its gradual transition towards green, renewable energy. The meeting was attended by Ambassadors from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Finland, Norway, Sweden, and Denmark, as well as representatives from the Embassies of Denmark and Iceland in Belgium, and the Belgian Minister of Energy.
