
The Ambassador of Latvia to Belgium signs the Ljubljana-Hague Convention on International Cooperation in the Investigation and Prosecution of the Crime of Genocide, Crimes against Humanity, War Crimes and other InternationalCrimes.

On 10 February, 2025 in Brussels Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to the Kingdom of Belgium Aiga Liepina on behalf of the Republic of Latvia signed the Ljubljana-Hague Convention on International Cooperation in the Investigation and Prosecution of the Crime of Genocide, Crimes against Humanity, War Crimes and other International Crimes.
The Lubljana-Hague Convention on International Cooperation in the Investigation and Prosecution of the Crime of Genocide, Crimes against Humanity, War Crimes and other International Crimes (hereinafter referred to as the Convention) was adopted on 26 May 2023 in Ljubljana, Slovenia and opened for signature on 14 February 2024. The Convention was designed to create a comprehensive instrument of international cooperation applicable to cases of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes, with individual countries facing challenges in obtaining evidence from other countries in cases of these crimes.
