On March 2, 2026, the annual meeting of the Honorary Consuls of Latvia in Belgium and Luxembourg was held in Brussels.

At the meeting, the Ambassador of Latvia to Belgium and Luxembourg, Aiga Liepiņa outlined Latvia's position on current geopolitical issues, introduced the foreign policy priorities - the tasks to strengthen our security and defense capabilities, to promote the country's economic growth and to continue providing support to the diaspora. She also briefed on Latvia's priority sectors in the field of promoting business relations. The participants of the meeting engaged in an interactive discussion about the embassy's work plan for this year, with special emphasis on promoting Latvia's external image and business relations.  The honorary consuls were informed about Latvia's investment environment and support measures by Egita Aizsilniece-Ibema, Head of the Latvian Innovation and Technology Representation in Brussels.

The participants also shared the experiences and ideas about further support for our diaspora in Belgium and Luxembourg, including promoting the civic and political participation of Latvians abroad.

The Honorary Consul of Latvia in Luxembourg is Dr. Henri Diederich, and in Belgium - Christophe Van Mechelen in Flanders and Pascale Ruth in Wallonia.

The Honorary Consul Network plays an important role in promoting economic and cultural relations. Several Honorary Consuls can operate in the same country, but each of them has their own consular district.
