Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs meets with members of diaspora at the Latvian Embassy in Belgium

At margins of the working visit to Brussels on June 17, 2026 Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs met with approximately 60 representatives of the Latvian diaspora at the Latvian Embassy to Belgium. At the outset Ambassador Aiga Liepiņa noted that a large number of Latvians living in Belgium closely follow and engage with matters vital to Latvia, acting as both a responsible civil society and stewards of Latvian cultural traditions.

The evening turned into an open and engaging dialogue between Prime Minister and our compatriots. The Prime Minister outlined his vision for Latvia's domestic political landscape and his government's strategic approach to deliver swift and tangible results. The diaspora actively participated, posing questions and sharing their personal perspectives on the issues they believe the government should prioritize.

To give the Prime Minister direct insight into the concerns of Latvians abroad, the embassy conducted an express survey during the event. The results revealed that the diaspora's primary concerns are national security, preparedness for external threats, and the demographic situation.

Participants highly valued the event, expressing appreciation for the opportunity to have a direct exchange with the high level national leadership.
