Registration of the current place of residence

According to the Law on the Register of Natural Persons there is an obligation to notify the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs of your and your children’s address of residence abroad. It is also necessary to notify within 30 days if the address of foreign residence has been changed.

The place of residence can be updated in one of the following ways:

  • electronically via portal www.latvija.lv;
  • using the official electronic eAddress;
  • providing information in person or sending an application by post to the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs. More detailed information can be found here;
  • in personat the Embassy of Latvia in the Netherlands. From January 1, 2025, a consular fee of EUR 50,00 must be paid when submitting information about residence abroad through the Latvian Embassy in the Netherlands. 

 The legal basis for the processing of personal data (given name, surname, personal identity number and other personal data indicated in the application) is Article 6(1)(c) of the General Data Protection Regulation. The legal obligation of diplomatic and consular missions of Latvia abroad is to process personal data in accordance with Cabinet Regulation No. 412 of 22 June 2021 “Procedures for the Inclusion and Updating of Information in the Register of Natural Persons”.
