On March 20, the Center for European studies of the O.P. Jindal Global Universitynel organised a Panel discussion “Borders as filters: Migration, War and Uneven exposure” .
The Polish Ambassador to India Dr Piotr Šwitalski and the Deputy Head of the Latvian Embassy in India Inga Skruzmane were invited to participate in the discussion with students. The focus of the discussion was the migration crisis orchestrated by the authoritarian regime of Belarus as a broader element of hybrid warfare against the European Union and NATO.
In the presentation Ms Skruzmane described the phenomenon of migration as an element of hybrid warfare, presented illegal immigration statistics and informed students about a scope of measures taken by Latvian institutions to protect the NATO's Eastern border.
During the discussion the students asked questions about Latvia's and Poland's support to Ukraine, and more broadly about the security policy of both countries. Ms Inga Skruzmane also highlighted Russia's extensive involvement in FIMI (Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference.)
