In order to join a full-time academic study in a Latvian university, students are required to hold a residence permit.
Turkish nationals and residents of Turkey may apply at VFS Global visa centre for a multiple entry long term visa (D-type visa) for a period of 90 days in order to travel to Latvia and lodge their application for a residence permit at the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs (OCMA).

N.B.! Different application process (including prior consultations) is performed with respect to the nationals of specific third countries (according to the Cabinet Regulation of June 21, 2010, No. 554, “Regulation Regarding the Countries for the Citizens of which an Additional Assessment shall be Performed when Issuing a Visa or a Residence Permit”) and to the foreigners whom the status of a stateless person or refugee status has been granted in a foreign country. These persons are first required to apply for the residence permit at the Embassy. Only after positive OCMA decision will they be able to apply for D-type visa.
