Please make sure that you have informed the Population Register of Latvia about your residence in Austria, Liechtenstein, Slovakia, or Switzerland. This is a requirement to request a service from the embassy. If you have not already done so, please attach an additional application form regarding your current address in the aforementioned countries to the other documents necessary for your application. Alternatively, you can also register your current address electronically at Latvija.lv.

Please note that documents issued by the Embassy cannot be authenticated with an Apostille!

NB!  Payments on site at the Embassy can only be made by card (VISA, VISA Electron, VPay, Maestro, MasterCard).

 


To receive a certificate from the Population Register of Latvia (on your marital status, citizenship, etc., except an address certificate), the following documents must either be submitted in person or sent by post to the Consular Department of the Embassy:

  1. A copy of the person's passport with the text on it, "I, Name, Surname, agree that my data will be used in the process of my criminal records check" with the date and your signature;
  2. Application form;
  3. Proof of payment of state and consular fees (copy of the bank statement) transferred to two different bank accounts;
  4. If you wish to receive the certificate by post within Austria, Liechtenstein, Slovakia, or Switzerland, a consular fee of 10.00 EUR will need to be paid.

The costs of this service: 45,00 EUR.

Receiving the certificate by post (on demand): 10,00 EUR.

The certificate will be issued in German or English.

The legal basis for the processing of personal data (given name, surname, personal identity number and other personal data indicated in the form) is Article 6(1)(c) of the General Data Protection Regulation. The legal obligation of diplomatic and consular missions of Latvia abroad is to process personal data in accordance with Cabinet Regulation No. 563 of 17 August 2021 “Procedures for issuing information included in the Register of Natural Persons”.

 


To receive an address certificate from the Population Register of Latvia (of the former address in Latvia or the current address in Austria, Liechtenstein, Slovakia, or Switzerland), the following documents must either be submitted in person or sent by post to the Consular Department of the Embassy:

The costs of this service: 42,50 EUR.

Receiving the certificate by post (on demand): 10,00 EUR.

The certificate will be issued in German or English.

To receive a marriage statement with an entry on divorce, the following documents must either be submitted in person or sent by post to the Consular Department of the Embassy:

  1. Application form;
  2. Proof of payment of consular fees (copy of the bank statement or print-out from online banking);
  3. If you wish to receive the certificate by post within Austria, Liechtenstein, Slovakia, or Switzerland, a consular fee of 10.00 EUR will need to be paid.

NB! It is not possible to attach a multilingual standard form to this document. However, based on The Regulation on Public Documents (Regulation 2016/1191) of the European Parliament and the Council, it is not necessary to provide an apostille for this document. The certificate from the Criminal Register about a person's (non)criminal record in Latvia can be requested and received by contacting the Information Center of the Ministry of the Interior directly. More information:  https://www.ic.iem.gov.lv/en/certificate-non-criminal-record

Alternatively, the certificate can be requested and received through the Embassy remotely - by mail, for which a consular fee of EUR 10.00 is additionally charged.

 The certificate will be issued in Latvian, English or Russian.

Please note that it is only possible to request the certificate within five (5) working days via the Embassy. Mail delivery time is not included!

The costs of this service: 

  •  If you wish to receive the certificate in Latvian in 5 business days: 50,40 EUR.
  •  If you wish to receive the certificate in English or Russian in 5 business days: 56,80 EUR.
  • NB! SHOULD THE CERTIFICATE FROM THE CRIMINAL REGISTER REQUIRE AN APOSTILLE TO BE USED OUTSIDE AUSTRIA, SWITZERLAND, SLOVAKIA OR LIECHTENSTEIN, THE REQUEST PROCEDURE IS DIFFERENT. PLEASE CONTACT THE EMBASSY.
